The inland port project will be established in Mpakadan in the eastern region and Debre in the Savannah region. Mr. Kojo said the company is currently negotiating with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on environmental impact assessments and permits, and is negotiating with the Ghana Port Authority (GPHA) and the Volta Authority (VRA) on concession agreements.
The project is expected to cost $ 200 million and will be borne by local and international investors. When giving a breakdown of estimated costs, Adufen stated that marine assets would cost $ 40 million; port infrastructure would cost $ 60 million, while bulk fuel infrastructure and access infrastructure would each cost $ 50 million.
When completed, it will transport cargo and fuel from the port of Tema to Ouagadougou.
