On September 20, 2022, China National Railway Group successively released the survey and design bidding announcements for 5 projects to be constructed in the "14th Five-Year Plan" railway development plan. The project includes Baotou-Ordos Railway, Dingxi-Pingliang Railway, Qianjiang-Jishou Railway, Wenshan-Jingxi Railway and Taiyuan-Suide Railway, involving the Bao (Silver) Sea Passage, Yuxia Passage, Qingyin Channel and Yungui Border Railway.

Among them, the Baotou-Ordos Railway, the Dingxi-Pingliang Railway and the Taiyuan-Suide Railway are important components of the comprehensive transportation network in the Outline of the Plan for Ecological Protection and High-Quality Development in the Yellow River Basin issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council in October last year.

The content of the bidding includes the stage of pre-feasibility study to construction drawing design of each railway, indicating that the five railway projects will officially start the preliminary work at the national level, and it is expected that the construction will be officially started during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

According to the bidding announcement, each railway survey and design project has been approved for construction by the "Letter from the Development and Reform Department of China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. on Entrusting the Investigation and Design Tendering of Taiyuan-Suide Railway and Other Projects", and the project owner is China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. Taiyuan to Suide Railway

The project is located in Shanxi and Shaanxi, and has been included in the “14th Five-Year Plan” for railway development. Currently, the Jidayuan Railway in the region has started construction, and the Xiongxin high-speed railway and the Yanyu-Hubei railway are advancing the preliminary work. The layout of the road network and the enhancement of transportation flexibility are of great significance.

Baotou to Ordos Railway

This project is located in Inner Mongolia and has been included in the "14th Five-Year" railway development plan. At present, the Jining-Baotou Railway in the region has been completed and put into operation, and the Yan'an-Yulin-Ordos Railway is under preliminary work. The layout of the net is important.

Dingxi to Pingliang Railway

The project is located in Gansu and Ningxia, and has been included in the "14th Five-Year Plan" railway development plan. Currently, the Pingliang-Qingyang railway in the region is undergoing preliminary work. The construction of the project is of positive significance for filling the blank of the road network in the west, promoting the economic and social development along the route, and enhancing the radiation and driving effect of the provincial capital cities.

Wenshan to Jingxi Railway

The project is located in Yunnan and Guangxi, and has been included in the "14th Five-Year Plan" for railway development. At present, the Tiandong-Jingxi railway has been completed in the region, and the Wenshan-Mengzi railway is under preliminary work. The construction of the project has positive significance for stabilizing the border and strengthening the Xinjiang, filling the blank of the western road network, and constructing the railway corridor along the border.
