As the new energy industry ushered in a golden development opportunity period, hydrogen energy rose to the national energy strategic position. The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) is actively studying and formulating relevant opinions and plans to promote the central enterprises to play a better role in the action of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. We have made steady progress in optimizing the energy mix. More than one third of central government enterprises are working on the layout of the entire industrial chain, including hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, hydrogenation and hydrogen use, and have achieved a number of achievements in technology research and development and demonstration application.

In the first half of 2022, the economic performance of central enterprises improved significantly, with net profits exceeding the half-year trillion yuan mark for the first time, reaching 1,023.21 billion yuan, up 133.3 percent year on year, said Peng Huagang, secretary general and spokesperson of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. At the same time, a number of super projects led by central enterprises also made a shock appearance. All units of Wudongde Hydropower Station of China Three Gorges Corporation and the first batch of units of Baihetan Hydropower Station were put into power generation, CNOOC's super deepwater gas field "Deep-sea 1" was officially put into operation, and the independent third-generation nuclear power unit "Hualong One" was put into commercial operation.

In increasing economic benefits, development has continuously appeared at the same time, the central enterprises to actively promote carbon up to the peak, the carbon neutral related work, strictly controlling the consumption of fossil energy, actively develop non-fossil energy, adjust measures to local conditions to develop water power, speed up the development of wind power, photovoltaic power generation, actively and orderly development of nuclear power, build new energy as the main body of the new type of power system, We will coordinate and promote the development of the whole chain of hydrogen energy production, transportation, storage and use.

Among them, steadily promoting the application of green and low-carbon technology is an important link. Peng Huagang said that at present, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) is organizing central enterprises to strengthen the scientific and technological breakthroughs of low carbon, zero carbon and negative carbon, leading to the breakthrough of green and low carbon technology. We will lay out tasks to tackle green and low-carbon technologies and equipment such as wind power, nuclear power, hydrogen energy, and new-energy vehicles, and promote the development and application of technologies such as smart grids, energy storage, hydrogen energy, and carbon capture. At the same time, we will steadily promote the efficient and intensive use of energy and resources, vigorously carry out the transformation of energy-saving and low-carbon technologies, strengthen energy efficiency standards, and continue to promote the green use of coal.

As the national energy team, the central enterprises actively respond to accelerate the distribution of new energy. Positive progress was also made in the first half of the year in promoting the restructuring and integration of central enterprises. The pipeline delivery of Kunlun Energy symbolizes the comprehensive completion of the asset integration of the main oil and gas pipeline network, and the formation of a national network. In the next step, SASAC will focus on the implementation of supply-side structural reform, steadily promote the reorganization and integration of central enterprises in steel, transmission and distribution equipment manufacturing and other industries, and actively cultivate and establish new central enterprise groups in relevant fields at an appropriate time.
