The bid-winning construction unit will officially enter the site for construction this month. At this point, the Shanghai-Chongqing-Rong high-speed railway from Shanghai to Nanjing to Hefei section is about to enter the stage of comprehensive construction.
Project overview
The new Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei high-speed railway is located in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces in East China, and runs roughly east-west along the north bank of the Yangtze River. The line starts from the newly built Shanghai Baoshan Railway Station in Shanghai, and runs west through Suzhou, Nantong, Taizhou, Yangzhou, Nanjing in Jiangsu Province, and Chuzhou in Anhui Province, to Hefei South Railway Station in Hefei.
Among them, the new section of Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei high-speed railway from Shanghai Baoshan Station to the boundary of Jiangsu and Anhui Province, the main line: DK1+031.51 ~ DK427+948.09, the length of the line is 422.882km, the length of the new line is 416.047km, and the existing length is 6.835km. Including related projects of Shanghai hub, Nantong region, Yangzhou region and Nanjing hub, 9 new stations and 3 rebuilt stations, supporting the construction of Shanghai Baoshan and Beijing North bullet train operating stations, the construction of Yangzhou East depot, the expansion of Nantong bullet train operating stations, including the simultaneous implementation and parallel section of Taicang to Situan section of Shanghai-Nantong Railway,

Time limit for a project
The total duration of the project is 7 years from Shanghai Baoshan Station to Qidong West Station, and 5 years from Qidong West Station to the border of Jiangsu and Anhui Province. The construction period of the second phase of Shanghai Stock Connect is 5 years.
Planned commencement date: October 2022; planned completion date: October 2027 for the section from Qidong West Railway Station to the boundary of Jiangsu and Anhui Province; planned completion date: October 2029 for Shanghai Baoshan Railway Station to Qidong West Railway Station.
The second phase of the Shanghai-Shanghai Stock Connect started construction on July 1, 2022, and is scheduled for completion on June 30, 2026.
