Saipem obtained a contract worth about 4.5 billion US dollars from Qatar Natural Gas Corporation for two offshore gas compression facilities in the northern Qatari offshore oil field. The contract is applicable to the production sustainability offshore compression complex project EPC 2 of Northern Oilfield.

According to Saipem, the Qatari Gas contract is the largest single offshore contract in its history. OILFIELD SERVICES will be responsible for the design, procurement, manufacture and installation of offshore gas compression facilities. The purpose of these two complexes is to maintain the production of northern oilfields. The offshore gas compression facilities will include two fixed steel jacket compression platforms, interconnection bridges, flare platforms, interface modules and living quarters.

Saipem said that it would use its own assets to execute contracts, as well as expertise and capabilities related to offshore engineering, installation and manufacturing. The Italian company said that through this contract, Saipem accelerated its strategic repositioning in the offshore sector, which is the vast majority of the orders announced so far in 2022, further supporting the delivery of its strategic plan.

In 2021, Saipem won a US $1 billion North Oil Field contract from Qatar Gas. The contract relates to offshore facilities for the exploitation and transportation of natural gas produced by Qatar's oil fields. Keywords: overseas news, engineering news

In April 2021, Italian contractors won an additional scope of work worth about $350 million for the same project. Due to the decommissioning of existing pipelines, additional work involves rerouting hydrocarbons from existing wellhead platforms through new facilities.Editor/Xing Wentao
