On October 31, 2022, SPIC Shandong Peninsula South 3 Offshore Wind Farm 20 MW Deep Sea Floating Photovoltaic 500 kW Demonstration Project successfully generated electricity, becoming the world's first deep sea scenery floating photovoltaic demonstration project.

The project is located in the south sea area of Haiyang City, Shandong Province, 30 kilometers offshore and 30 meters deep. The 500kw floating offshore photovoltaic system under construction consists of two annular floating body units, with an installed capacity of 250kw for a single floating body unit. It is composed of annular wave resistant floating body, high-strength film resistant to marine environment, photovoltaic system, etc.

A total of 770 photovoltaic modules are installed on the floating unit with a diameter of 53 meters and an area equivalent to four standard basketball courts. The clean power generated by these modules is converged to the inverter and then sent to the No. 3 wind turbine platform in the south of the peninsula, which operates on the same site. Later, it will be sent out through the offshore booster station. The demonstration project has verified the anti wind and wave ability of floating body, anchorage, power generation components, the weather resistance of marine environment and the technical feasibility of wind and wind integration.Editor/Ma Xue
