Abu Dhabi National Petroleum Construction Company has signed a pipeline agreement with Al Gharbia Pipeline Company to win the pipeline project required for the construction of a new main gas pipeline in the Lower Zakum Oilfield of ADNOC. The engineering, procurement and construction contract awarded by ADNOC Offshore to NPCC for this project is expected to be completed in 2025.
Ahmed Al Dhaheri, CEO of NPCC, said that NPCC would spare no effort to support ADNOC to realize its natural gas self-sufficiency plan and meet the growing global energy demand by providing complex projects, procurement and construction projects.
In September 2022, ADNOC awarded a contract worth 548 million US dollars to build a new main gas pipeline in its Lower Zakum Oilfield as part of its efforts to achieve the self-sufficiency of natural gas in the United Arab Emirates and meet the growing global energy demand. The contract will increase the natural gas production capacity of the Lower Zakum Oilfield from 430 million cubic feet per day to 700 million standard cubic feet per day.
The new pipeline will support the increase of associated gas production in Zakum Oilfield, as its oil production capacity will increase to 450,000 barrels of oil per day by 2025. In July, ADNOC announced the discovery of natural gas in the first exploration well in the exploration concession of Abu Dhabi Offshore Block 2 operated by Eni in 2022. This discovery comes from a new and deeper reservoir oil field, indicating that 1 trillion to 1.5 trillion standard cubic feet of feed gas is almost twice the volume of the discovered oil field. ADNOC said that it has awarded three framework agreements worth US $4 billion to Adnoc Drilling and US oilfield service providers Schlumberger and Halliburton. ADNOC, which produces most of the UAE's crude oil, plans to increase its production to 5 million barrels per day by 2030.
NPCC is a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi listed National Marine Dredging Company. It operates in the Arabian Gulf, South and Southeast Asia, and plans to expand to Africa and the Caspian Sea. The company has a fleet of 23 offshore vessels equipped with modern equipment to support its shallow and deep water operations. As of March 2019, NPCC has executed more than 1216 EPC projects.Editor/Xing Wentao
