Oman starts bidding for 500MW photovoltaic project

Recently, Oman Power and Water Procurement Company launched the bidding for Ibri 500MW photovoltaic project. The project is located in Ibri region in the northwest of the country, with an installed capacity of 500MW. It is a solar photovoltaic IPP project.

The bid closing date for this project is December 7. It will be put into trial operation in 2026. This project is the fourth 500MW solar energy project that OPWP is responsible for bidding. The Ibri 2 solar energy project has a construction period of 13 months and has been connected to the grid.

Earlier, the Oman government announced that it planned to increase the installed capacity of renewable energy by 4GW by 2030. Ibri solar energy series projects were part of the plan. In 2018, the Oman government introduced new roof photovoltaic regulations to support the plan.Editor/Xing Wentao
