On the morning of November 9, 2022, CNNC Fujian Yunxiao Pumped Storage Power Station, the first nuclear storage integration project in China, was successfully started in Huotian Town, Yunxiao County.

The designed installed capacity of the power station is 1.8 million kilowatts. Six 300000 kilowatt mixed flow reversible storage units will be built. The total investment of the project is about 10 billion yuan. The straight-line distance from Xiamen City, Zhangzhou City and Yunxiao County is 81km, 52km and 15km respectively. The access road is connected with National Highway 324, and the geographical location is superior. It is the largest pumped storage power station project under construction in Fujian Province, bearing the mission of China's first "nuclear storage integration" demonstration operation mode.

It is reported that the total construction period of the project is about 70 months. After the project is completed and put into operation, it can provide peak shaving service for Zhangzhou Nuclear Power, form an integrated operation of nuclear storage, and will undertake the tasks of peak shaving, valley filling, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency standby of Fujian Power Grid.Editor/Ma Xue
