On November 15, 2022, the People's Government of Xiangxiang City signed a contract with the South China Regional headquarters of China Energy Construction Co., LTD. Xiangxiang City compressed air energy storage project and Quantang Town Quantang Village shared energy project were settled in Xiangxiang.

It is reported that Xiangxiang city compressed air energy storage project plans to build a total capacity of 3x300MWx6h compressed air energy storage power station, the construction of artificial chamber, power generation system is initially recommended to use China Energy Construction Group Co., Ltd. with independent intellectual property rights of 300,000kW level non-supplementary combustion compressed air energy storage system, according to the situation of phased construction. With a total investment of about 7.2 billion yuan and a land area of about 350 mu, the project is expected to increase the gross regional product of 700 million yuan after formal operation, pay more than 60 million yuan annual tax, and increase the peak regulating capacity of the power system of 1.8 million kW, which is conducive to optimizing the energy structure, improving the safety of power supply and reducing carbon emissions.
