On November 16, 2022, Neixiang County of Nanyang City held the commencement ceremony of the second phase of the power plant project. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will be of great significance for Nanyang City to build a big energy security system with the integration of landscape, water and fire, and the whole chain of production, supply, storage and marketing. It will also provide important energy security for Henan Province to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

Nanyang Power Plant Phase II project

It is understood that the total investment of the second phase of the power plant is 5.91 billion yuan, the installed capacity of 2 million kilowatts, the depth of peak load capacity of 25%, coal consumption is less than 270 grams of standard coal/KWH, after the completion of the first and second phase of the total installed capacity will reach 4 million kilowatts, Henan Province is the first with 4 million units of large power generation enterprises. After operation, it will significantly improve the capacity of peak cutting and valley filling, frequency modulation and phase modulation and accident reserve of Henan power grid and Central China regional power grid.

Wang Yuren, general manager of Zhongyu Guosen Investment Co., LTD., said at the commencement ceremony that the Phase II power plant is the core project of Nanyang Scenery Water, fire and storage multi-energy complementary project. The commencement ceremony now marks the full launch of the Nanyang Scenery Water, fire and storage multi-energy complementary project with a total investment of 55 billion yuan, and the installed thermal power and new energy will reach 11 million kilowatts during the 14th and 15th Five-Year Plan. The static reserve capacity of 5 million tons of coal will eventually reach the annual revenue of 100 billion yuan and contribute 5 billion yuan of profits and taxes to Nanyang City, which is an important new support for the fiscal and tax revenue of Nanyang City. The new energy consumption of the project accounts for 43.6%, reducing the thermal coal consumption of Nanyang City by 1.17 million tons per year, and reducing carbon dioxide by 3.225,100 tons per year.
