On November 18, 2022, the new base of Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. was officially put into operation. As the first engine joint venture of Cummins in China, Chongqing Cummins has played an important role in meeting the diversified needs of China's high-power market. The completion and operation of the new base marks a new breakthrough in the field of advanced manufacturing and research and development of high-power power.

Chongqing Cummins New Base, located in Liangjiang New District of Chongqing, covers an area of 400 mu (equivalent to 38 standard football fields). The new base is built according to the global advanced standards of Cummins, and has many industry-leading equipment and software supporting facilities, integrating an innovative technology center, an advanced manufacturing system, and an efficient logistics system.

The new high horsepower technology center is the only Cummins institution in China that focuses on the research and development of high horsepower engine technology. Focusing on the research and development of high horsepower engines, the center has the capabilities of mechanical performance testing, emission testing, durability testing, trial assembly of new products, and restructuring of existing products. The emission equipment equipped on the test bench can meet the increasingly stringent requirements of the non road country 4-stage emission regulations and the US T4F non road 4-stage emission regulations. The bench is also equipped with a world leading AC electric dynamometer with a maximum power of 3000 kW, which can convert the fuel consumed during the test into electric energy for use by the factory and help reduce the carbon emissions of the factory.

Chongqing Cummins New Base has two assembly lines and a centralized sub assembly line, which are used for the assembly of 19 liter, 38 liter and 50 liter engines. All production lines are integrated with digitalization, intelligence and automation, and are built according to the standard of Cummins high-power engine production line. After more than a year of trial operation, the production line has fully achieved the set goals in terms of safety, productivity, quality and other key indicators. The new base will be built into nine test rooms, which can cover the testing of 11-72L diesel and natural gas engines, equipped with advanced hardware equipment and control systems, and is the most advanced test bench of Cummins worldwide.

The logistics system of the new base is to improve and upgrade the system logic, optimize the storage, distribution and warehouse management according to the professional planning of the international logistics industry, on the basis of the original production base's logistics system, combined with the new factory's capacity and the latest market demand, so as to deliver the correct number of qualified parts to the correct production line station at the correct time node. Advanced automatic guided vehicles are used in the plant for material distribution, which not only reduces the labor intensity of production line employees, but also greatly improves the distribution efficiency. It is safe, reliable and more intelligent.

Founded in 1995, Chongqing Cummins is a joint venture between Chongqing Electromechanical Co., Ltd. and Cummins with a 50:50 share ratio. It is also the only high-power engine production base of Cummins in China. Its application markets include electric power, marine machinery, engineering machinery, etc. In 2015, Chongqing Cummins announced the BFG (Great Development in the Future) project to build leading manufacturing and R&D capabilities, introducing new product platforms to enrich product arrays.
