On November 25, 2022, the main works of Zhaoqing Langjiang Pumped Storage Power Station will be commenced in Wuhe Town, Guangning County.

It is reported that Zhaoqing Langjiang Pumped Storage Power Station has a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. After completion, it will undertake the peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency standby functions of Guangdong power system. The main construction contents of the project include upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water transmission and power generation system, and switching station. The total construction period of the project is 63 months, and the total investment is about 8.67 billion yuan.

The power station strives to be put into operation for power generation in 2025, with an annual design power generation of 1.35 billion kWh, which can save about 360000 tons of system standard coal each year, and correspondingly reduce 900000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 27000 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions and 13500 tons of nitrogen oxides each year.Edit/Ma Xue
