Recently, Sinopec is promoting the plan to build a large green hydrogen project in Inner Mongolia, which will help Sinopec become the largest hydrogen energy company in China.
Sinopec will invest 20 billion yuan to build a green power and hydrogen energy comprehensive project in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia. The plan includes onshore wind power hydrogen production integration project and hydrogen transmission pipeline. The 400km long hydrogen transmission pipeline will connect the hydrogen production plant in Ulanqab and Sinopec's Yanshan Petrochemical in Beijing. The annual throughput of the pipeline is 100000 tons of hydrogen. The relevant projects will be led by Sinopec New Energy Company "Sinopec New Star Inner Mongolia Green Hydrogen New Energy Co., Ltd." At present, Sinopec New Star has begun to carry out field survey on the project.
Ma Yongsheng, chairman of Sinopec, said that in the process of transforming to a low-carbon business structure, the company will give priority to the development of renewable energy projects, especially those involving hydrogen energy. Sinopec will increase its investment in hydrogen technology research and development, and plans to carry out a number of green hydrogen pilot projects, as part of its mission to achieve the peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050, about 10 years ahead of the national goal of 2060. By 2025, Sinopec aims to supply 1 million tons of green hydrogen accumulatively. In the same year, the production capacity of green hydrogen is planned to reach 500000 tons per year. At present, the output of "ash" hydrogen made from fossil fuels is 3.9 million tons.
Sinopec's green hydrogen project in the year has made great progress. On the one hand, Sinopec recently commissioned a PEM electrolyzer in its Zhongyuan Oilfield in Henan Province. Sinopec said that the project produces 1.12 tons of green hydrogen with a purity of 99.9995% every day. Compared with alkaline electrolyzers, PEM water electrolysis technology can save 1 kWh of electricity per cubic meter of hydrogen produced. On the other hand, 52 sets of electrolyzers of Sinopec Kuqa Project have been installed, and the green hydrogen production capacity of 20000 tons/year will be achieved. Editor/Zhao E
