On the morning of December 2, 2022, the kick-off mobilization meeting for Dazhou Section of Xi'an Chongqing High speed Railway (hereinafter referred to as the West Chongqing High speed Railway) was held at the construction site of Gaogong Village Bridge, Qingshui Town, Dazhu County.

The total length of the West Chongqing High speed Railway is 739 kilometers, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is divided into two sections, Xi'an Ankang and Ankang Chongqing. At the same time, the connecting line between the West Chongqing High speed Railway and Zhengzhou Chongqing High speed Railway will be built. The total length of Xi'an Ankang section is 171km, which has been started in June 2021, with a construction period of 5 years. On November 29 and 30, 2022, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Chongqing announced that the 478 km Ankang Chongqing Section and the 90 km West Chongqing High Speed Railway and Zhengzhou Chongqing High Speed Railway were officially started, with a construction period of 6 years.

The Ankang Chongqing section of the West Chongqing High speed Railway starts from Ankang West Station, passing through Ankang City of Shaanxi Province, Chengkou County of Chongqing, Dazhou City and Guang'an City of Sichuan Province, Hechuan District and Beibei District of Chongqing, and leads to Chongqing West Station, the hub of Chongqing; The connecting line between the West Chongqing High speed Railway and the Zhengzhou Chongqing High speed Railway starts from Fankuai Station of the West Chongqing High speed Railway in Xuanhan County, passes through Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, Kaizhou District and Wanzhou District of Chongqing, and ends at Wanzhou North Station of the Zhengzhou Chongqing High speed Railway.

Dazhou section is the main part of the Ankang Chongqing section of the West Chongqing High speed Railway. The route mileage is about 228 kilometers, with an investment of about 49 billion yuan. It passes through 3 counties and 2 districts and the High tech Zone, including 10 kilometers in Tongchuan District, 35.6 kilometers in Dachuan District (including the High tech Zone), 129.1 kilometers in Xuanhan County, 40.8 kilometers in Dazhu County and 12.5 kilometers in Quxian County. At the same time, a 5km connecting line of Dazhou South Railway Station will be built. There are 4 passenger stations in Dazhou City, namely Dazhou South, Dazhu, Xuanhan South and Fan Kuai.

Dazhou Section has the longest line, the largest investment and the largest number of new stations in Ankang Chongqing Section of West Chongqing High speed Railway. At the same time of the commencement of the West Chongqing High speed Railway, the construction of Chengdu Wanzhou High speed Railway in Dazhou is also stepping up. As of November 29, 2022, the most important control project of Chengdu Dazhou Wanzhou High speed Railway, the Huayingshan Tunnel, with a total length of 8748m, has been excavated for 3014m.

After the completion of the "double high-speed railway" of Xiyu and Chengdu Dazhou Wanzhou, it will "cross" at Dazhou South Station. In addition to Wanyuan, Dazhou has "high-speed railway in every county". It takes only 40 minutes for Dazhou people to get to Chongqing and less than 90 minutes to get to Chengdu and Xi'an by high-speed railway at Dazhou South Station.

Dazhou Railway Station is the fourth largest railway station in Southwest China and the second largest railway station in Sichuan Province. Its passenger and freight traffic volume is among the top in the province. At present, Dazhou has opened the East Sichuan Railway Water Combined Transport Train, the West Land Sea New Channel Dazhou Train and the Central Europe Banliedazhou Special Train, realizing the goal of "east to the Asia Pacific via the Yangtze River Delta, north to Mongolia Russia via Beijing Tianjin Hebei, west to Europe via the Great Northwest, and south to ASEAN via the Beibu Gulf".

Among the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway main channels of the national medium and long-term railway network, the West Chongqing high-speed railway is an important part of the "Beijing Kunming (Beijing Kunming) channel" and "Baoyinhai (Baotou Yinchuan Haikou) channel"; Chengdu Dazhou Wanzhou High speed Railway is an important part of the "riverside channel".
