On December 7, 2022, Argentine time, the first axial-flow propeller turbine of the JC Power Station of the Argentine Gisai Hydropower Project undertaken by CGGCINTL successfully arrived at the Port of Puntagia, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina from Shanghai Port, China. The government of Santa Cruz Province where the project is located, the owner, the supervisory engineer, and the relevant representatives of the joint venture of the project department went to the port to witness the coming of this important milestone.
Turbine arrives at the port site
The turbine of the hydropower station is the most critical electromechanical equipment for the construction of the project, and it is also the first turbine installed in Argentina that originated in China. Alicia Kirchner, Governor of Santa Cruz Province, said, "The arrival of this turbine marks an important step for the project to be put into operation for power generation in the future. Thank you to all the staff."
The Argentine Jisai project consortium has formulated a rigorous plan in advance, and has made full analysis and preparations for the lifting equipment, transportation routes, transportation tools, road conditions and safety measures, and timely communicated with Local customs, transportation companies, road management and other relevant parties coordinate logistics and transportation matters, strictly implement safety control measures, and ensure the safety and smoothness of all transportation work.
As a project jointly signed by the heads of state of China and Argentina, the Gisai Hydropower Station is the largest water conservancy project under construction in Argentina. The project is located on the Santa Cruz River in the south-central part of Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. It consists of two hydropower stations (NK and JC power stations) 65 kilometers apart and a 173-kilometer 500KV power transmission line. The total installed capacity of the power station is 1310MW, including 950MW with five units in NK Power Station and 360MW with three units in JC Power Station. After the completion of the project, the total installed power capacity of Argentina can be increased by about 6.5%, and the foreign exchange of fuel imports can be saved by 1.1 billion U.S. dollars every year.
