On December 12, 2022, the completion ceremony of the second phase of the China-aided University of Bamako Kabbalah Campus in Mali was held. Ambassador Chen signed the handover certificate with the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. About 800 local people and young students attended the ceremony to warmly celebrate the completion of the new campus.
In his speech, Ambassador Chen expressed his warm congratulations on the successful implementation of the project, and expressed his sincere thanks to the Chinese and Malaysian technical teams and all project participants for their hard work and dedication. After the second phase of the project is put into use, it will further expand the popularity and influence of the University of Bamako in West Africa, improve the infrastructure level of higher education in Mali, and promote the development of higher education in Mali. Ambassador Chen pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia 62 years ago, the two sides have upheld the principles of sincerity, friendship, equality, mutual support and common development, carried out all-round and multi-level cooperation and achieved fruitful results. The two sides are actively implementing the nine projects of China-Africa cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping to promote the in-depth development of bilateral cooperation. Not long ago, the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was successfully held. The meeting emphasized that China will adhere to the basic national policy of opening up, firmly pursue a mutually beneficial and win-win opening strategy, and firmly support and help developing countries to accelerate their development. Minister of Higher Education Keita thanked the Chinese government for its long-term selfless help, saying that the completion of the project is another testimony of the profound friendship between the two countries.
