On December 15, 2022, Huaneng Shantou Lemen (II) Offshore Wind Power Project, the landmark project of Huaneng's ten million kilowatt "integration of wind, water, fire and storage" energy base in eastern Guangdong, was started. This is the "14th Five Year Plan" key project in Guangdong Province, the first batch of offshore wind power demonstration projects in eastern Guangdong, and the first offshore wind power project constructed by Huaneng in Guangdong. Its commencement marks the official start of the base construction.

Huaneng's East Guangdong "integration of wind, solar, water, fire and energy storage" energy base integrates offshore wind power, photovoltaic, clean thermal power, energy storage and other sectors, with a total installed capacity of more than 20 million kilowatts and a total investment of more than 180 billion yuan. It has simultaneously built the first control center of the integrated energy base in East Guangdong, innovatively promoting the organic combination of green energy and chemical energy storage, forming a unified scheduling of "wind, light, water, fire and storage", and realizing friendly interaction between sources and networks The overall benefit is optimal.

Huaneng Shantou Lemen (II) offshore wind farm is the first offshore wind power project invested and developed by Huaneng Group in eastern Guangdong. The project is located in the sea area south of Nan'ao Island. The total investment of the project is about 8.2 billion yuan, and the construction scale is about 600000 kilowatts. 54 11 megawatt (MW) wind turbines will be installed, and one onshore switch station and one offshore booster station will be built. It is planned to be connected to the grid with full capacity in 2023.

After the project is completed, the annual average power generation will be 2 billion kWh, the standard coal will be saved about 650000 tons, and the carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced about 1.8 million tons. The construction and operation of the project will effectively give play to the regional advantages of new energy enrichment, realize the large-scale consumption of clean power, and provide green and low-carbon energy support for Shantou to take the road of "building a city with strong industry" and build an industrial development pattern of "three new, two special and one big". Wen Shugang, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and chairman of China Huaneng Group Corporation, said in the congratulatory letter that he hoped to take the commencement of the project as an opportunity to accelerate green transformation, implement innovation driven, and fully promote the energy construction in eastern Guangdong.
