On the morning of December 20, 2022, the People's Government of Wuwei City and China Three Gorges New Energy Group Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for the investment and development agreement of Gansu Huangyang Pumped Storage Power Station Project. Liu Peng, Secretary of Wuwei Municipal Party Committee, Wang Guobin, Deputy Secretary of Wuwei Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, had a discussion with Wang Wubin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Three Gorges New Energy (Group) Co., Ltd., and witnessed the signing of the contract. Li Hongwei, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, and Wu Zhongping, general manager of Gansu Branch of Three Gorges New Energy Group Co., Ltd. signed the contract on behalf of both parties.

He said that at present, the whole city is deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the Twentieth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, unswervingly implementing the new development concept, accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system, placing the development of new energy industry in a prominent position, striving to build a multi energy complementary comprehensive energy base of 10 million kilowatts, and promoting the high-quality development of the new energy industry. The cooperation between Wuwei and Three Gorges New Energy Group has a solid foundation and a promising prospect. It is hoped that Three Gorges New Energy Group will give full play to its advantages, continue to carry out all-round and in-depth cooperation, jointly do a good job in top-level design, implement the strategic cooperation agreement, speed up the early work of the project construction, and strive for the early commencement of the project. Huangyang Pumped Storage Power Station will be included in the National Medium and Long term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035) in 2021, and will be listed as a key project during the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan". The power station is developed by China Three Gorges New Energy (Group) Co., Ltd. with a total investment of 10.8 billion yuan and a total installed capacity of 1.4 million kilowatts. It is planned to start construction in 2023. After the completion of the project, it will better serve the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutralization" and inject new momentum into the high-quality economic and social development of Wuwei. We should work at a deeper level to jointly do a good job in top-level design, implement the strategic cooperation agreement, speed up the early work of project construction, and strive to start the construction of the project as soon as possible.
