The main bridge of the sixth cross river highway and railway bridge is about to start construction, with a total investment of about 5.27 billion yuan. CCCC Second Harbor Fourth Company, a central enterprise in Wuhu, won the bid for the construction of the main bridge section at Zongyang side of Tongling City.

This is a Yangtze River highway railway bridge connecting Zongyang County of Tongling City and Guichi District of Chizhou City. It is a comprehensive transportation project combining "highway+intercity railway+urban rail transit" to cross the river. The upstream is about 24km away from Chizhou Yangtze River Highway Bridge, and the downstream is about 20km away from Tongling Yangtze River Highway Bridge. The upper layer of the bridge is designed as a two-way 6-lane expressway with a driving speed of 100 km/h, which bears the S40 Nanjing Songyang Expressway; The lower layer is designed as a 4-track railway, which is a double track Hechi Intercity Railway with a running speed of 250 km/h, and a double track reserved rail transit with a running speed of 160 km/h.

This bridge is the sixth cross river highway and railway bridge on the 800 mile Anhui River after Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge, Tongling Yangtze River Highway and Railway Bridge, Wuhu Yangtze River Third Bridge, Maanshan Yangtze River Highway and Railway Bridge and G3 Tongling Yangtze River Highway and Railway Bridge under construction. The total length of the bridge is 3108.5m, of which the 1768m long main bridge is a double deck steel truss cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 812m, the south cable tower is 274.5m high, and the north cable tower is 282.5m high, all of which are diamond shaped reinforced concrete bridge towers; The approach bridge across the north bank levee adopts a simply supported steel truss composite beam with a span of 140 meters, and the other approach bridges adopt concrete beams with a span of 40.7 meters and 32.7 meters respectively.

After the completion of the bridge, it will become the sixth Yangtze River highway and railway bridge on the 800 mile Anhui River, which is conducive to promoting the integration of Wuhu, Chizhou, Tongling and other places into the development of the Yangtze River Delta, undertaking the industrial transfer of the Yangtze River Delta, and improving the layout of river crossing channels and Anhui regional highway network.
