On December 26, 2022, Fangchenggang Development and Reform Commission issued the Letter of Approval on Forwarding the Approval of Fangchenggang Offshore Wind Power Demonstration Project A Site Project to Guangxi Guangtou Beibu Gulf Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd., marking the formal completion of the approval of Fangchenggang Offshore Wind Power Demonstration Project A Site Project of Guangzhou Guangtou Group, and becoming the first approved offshore wind power project in Guangxi.

At the end of August 2022, GIC Group won the development right of Guangxi offshore wind power demonstration project through competitive configuration of "one control and one participation". On November 3, Fangchenggang Project Company Guangxi Guangtou Beibu Gulf Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. was unveiled. It took less than 4 months for offshore wind power projects to achieve project approval from obtaining the development right, which provided the first experience for subsequent offshore wind power project approval in Guangxi.

It is reported that Site A is one of the three sites of Fangchenggang Offshore Wind Power Demonstration Project, with a planned installed capacity of 700000 kilowatts. The construction site is located in the southern sea area of Fangchenggang City. The total investment of the project is about 9.7 billion yuan. It is planned to be completed and put into operation by 2025. After the full capacity is connected to the grid, the annual power generation will be 2.057 billion kilowatt hours, which can meet the annual power consumption of 2 million households, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.55 million tons.
