On December 28, 2022, the new energy base project in the middle and north of Ordos in Kubuqi Desert, led by Three Gorges Group and jointly constructed by Inner Mongolia Energy Group, started construction in Dalate Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia. The project is the world's largest wind power photovoltaic base project developed and constructed in desert, Gobi and desert regions, and also the first ten million kilowatt new energy base project under construction in China.
It is understood that the planned total investment of the Kubuqi base project is more than 80 billion yuan, with a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, including 8 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power and 4 million kilowatts of wind power, 4 million kilowatts of advanced and efficient coal-fired power for supporting reconstruction and expansion, and about 4 to 6 million kilowatt hours of multi-scale and multi type energy storage.
It is reported that the Kubuqi base project is of large scale, high technical difficulty and great innovation significance. In order to better build a world-class demonstration project of the "Sage Desert" base, the project adopts the trinity coordination mode of "new energy base, supporting coal power, and transmission channel", and creates a systematic project integrating four elements of "large-scale new energy development, wind, fire and energy complementary, power transmission across provinces, and desert ecological governance"; Carry out major scientific and technological innovation based on the project, solve major technical problems such as multiple power supply varieties, multiple energy storage types, and multiple scenery clusters, effectively drive the cluster development of emerging industries such as photovoltaic, energy storage, and digitalization, and provide important demonstration application scenarios for new power systems.Editor/Ma Xue
