At 10:21 a.m. on December 30, 2022, the kick-off meeting for the construction of Mianyang Suining Section of Mianyang Suining Railway on the east bank of Kaijiang River, Shunjiang Village, Tongchuan Town, Santai County, Mianyang was held here. With the order, the Mianyang Suining Section of Mianyang Suining Railway entered the construction stage.

The Mianyang Suining Section of Mianyang Suining Neijiang Railway has an estimated investment of 32.852 billion yuan and a planned construction period of 4 years. It is led by Shudao Group and co financed by the people's governments of Mianyang and Suining.

The new main line of Mianyang Suining Section is 136.16km long, including 67.61km in Mianyang and 68.55km in Suining. 104 new bridges of 69.91km, 50 tunnels of 41.48km, with a bridge tunnel ratio of 81.8%, and related connecting lines and supporting projects.

The line of Mianyang Suining Section starts from Mianyang South Station, passes through Fucheng District and Santai County of Mianyang, reaches Shehong City, Daying County, Chuanshan District and Anju District of Suining, and ends at Suining High tech Station. There are four new stations in the whole line, namely Mianyang South Station, Santai Station, Shehong Station and Suining High tech Station. Luxi Station is reserved, and two stations are introduced into the existing Mianyang Station and Suining Station.

It is reported that the Mianyang Suining Neijiang Railway is a planned construction project in the Multilevel Rail Transit Plan for Chengdu Chongqing Double City Economic Circle. It is connected with the Dazhou Wanzhou High Speed Railway under construction and the Chongqing Suining Railway under planning. After completion, it will further improve the railway network of Chengdu Chongqing Double City Economic Circle, accelerate the high-quality development of regional comprehensive transportation, and better jointly build the double city economic circle on the track. The smooth implementation of Mianyang Suining Section is an urgent need to implement national development strategies such as the the Belt and Road, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the Chengdu Chongqing Double City Economic Circle, and accelerate the construction of a four-way expansion and global opening pattern.
