Ravenna is located on the coastal plain 10 kilometers away from the Adriatic Sea, 111 kilometers east of Bologna. It was the seaport of ancient Rome. It became the capital of the Kingdom of East Gothic from the fifth to the sixth century, and was the center of the domination of Italy by the Eastern Roman Empire from the sixth to the eighth century. It is famous for preserving the architectural relics of ancient Rome, especially the Eastern Roman Empire, and has the reputation of Byzantine in Italy.

Ravenna Port is the main port of Emilia Romagna. The European Commission has designated the core port of Ravenna seaport of TEN-T network. The dock is mainly connected to the sea from the center of Ravenna by a 12 km long river. The offshore breakwater is located in the towns of Porto Corsini and Marina di Ravenna. It has a shipyard, a multi-function terminal, a bulk cargo terminal and a container cargo terminal. There is also a large passenger and cruise terminal and the largest terminal in the Adriatic Sea.

Now, a new road connecting the Italian port of Ravenna has been approved. The new section will connect the port with Brenner Expressway. This will improve the transportation of heavy trucks into and out of the port. Necessary intersection works will be carried out on A22 expressway. The construction work will start in 2023 and is expected to cost 7.2 billion euros.

After the completion of the highway project, it will be connected with Ravenna Port to accelerate the development of port trade, and at the same time, it can also drive the economic construction of cities along the line, form an industrial trade zone, and completely open the market gate of Ravenna.
