The global renewable energy industry has been booming in recent years, and new trends in energy investment are taking shape. President Aliyev of Azerbaijan was invited to visit Romania and signed a strategic partnership agreement on green energy development and transportation with the leaders of Romania, Georgia and Hungary in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The agreement provides for the transmission of green energy from Afghanistan to Europe via the Black Sea submarine cable.

President Azerbaijan said that the agreement will be a joint contribution to European energy security and an important step in creating a green energy corridor. By building a new energy "bridge" connecting Afghanistan and Europe, Afghanistan will become an important supplier of green energy to Europe. In July 2022, the "Memorandum of Strategic Partnership in the Energy Sector" signed by AO has been implemented. In 2021, Afghanistan will export 8.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the EU, 11.3 billion cubic meters in 2022, and is expected to reach 11.6 billion cubic meters in 2023. By then, the total natural gas exports of Afghanistan will reach 24 billion cubic meters. Recently, SOCAR and Romgaz signed a natural gas cooperation agreement, and Afghanistan is expanding the scope of natural gas supply in the European market. In addition, the onshore wind and solar energy potential of Afghanistan exceeds 27 GW, and the Caspian Sea wind energy potential exceeds 157 GW. It is planned that by 2027, Afghanistan will produce 3 GW of wind energy and 1 GW of solar energy, 80% of which will be exported. By 2037, Afghanistan will generate at least 6 gigawatts of additional electricity through renewable energy.

Romanian Prime Minister Chuka pointed out that the agreement will lay the foundation for long-term cooperation between countries in various fields. In the next stage, Romania will formulate the goal of laying submarine digital optical cables, expand the maritime transport communication from Constanta Port to Georgia, and strengthen connections with Afghanistan and Central Asia. Romania will make full use of the existing renewable energy power generation potential and fully promote the green energy trade between Agora and European countries.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that the agreement will bring closer cooperation between the EU and the Transcaucasus region, further realize the transition to green energy, and improve the EU's energy security.

Georgian Prime Minister Gary Bashvili said that Georgia is expanding and modernizing its energy and communication infrastructure to meet European standards, and that the Black Sea submarine cable project has "very important prospects." Editor/Xu Shengpeng
