Recently, China Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., Huadian Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., and Laos Pensatavi Group Co., Ltd. completed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperative development of the Bolapa 600MW and Kange 700MW wind power projects in Laos, marking the phased progress of the projects.

Laos Wind Power Project

Since 2022, the Sri Lanka regional company has attached great importance to the clean energy market in Laos, actively allocated resources, and formed a strong alliance with a professional power investor Huadian Haitou. The project field finally focused on the Bolapa 600MW and Kange 700MW onshore wind power projects, and then the teams of both parties conducted several months of arduous negotiations with the Laos local developer Pengsa Tawi Group. Finally, all parties reached an agreement on this agreement and Signed recently. According to the agreement, the company will jointly acquire 100% equity of the wind power project from Pengsha Tavi Group with Huadian Haitou and complete project development, construction and commercial operation.

The two wind farms of the project are located in Bolapa County, Khammung Province, central and southern Laos, and Kangge County, Porikhamsai Province, central Laos, close to the Vietnam-Laos border. The total installed capacity of the two wind farms is 1300MW, and the total investment is about $2 billion.

The power purchase agreement of the project will be signed with the Vietnam State Power Group. It is planned to be connected to the grid and put into commercial operation at the end of 2025. It is estimated that the annual power generation capacity will exceed 4.5 billion kwh. After the project is completed, it will be the installed capacity of Laos to export electricity to Vietnam.
