On February 6, 2023, the "SYMSD-SJZX Tender Announcement for Review of Construction Drawings of the Shangyuanmen River-Crossing Channel Project of the New Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway" was released, and the project is a big step closer to the official start of construction within this year.
Project Overview
The Ninghuai Intercity Railway’s Shangyuanmen River Crossing Passage is the connection line from the new Nanjing North Station to Nanjing Station. It is a major transportation infrastructure that strengthens the connection between Jiangnan and Jiangbei, breaks through the bottleneck of railway crossing capacity, and realizes the development of supporting the river. The project construction is of great significance to strengthen the connection between northern Jiangsu, central Jiangsu and southern Jiangsu, build the Yangtze River Delta on track, and promote the construction and development of China Jiangsu Pilot Free Trade Zone.
The project line crosses the Jiangbei New District, Pukou District, and Gulou District of our city. The main line is drawn from the Ninghuai Ningbeng Depot of the New Nanjing North Station. Entering the ground, parallel to the Puyi Elevated Road in the form of a tunnel, turn south at the sewage treatment plant, cross the river in a nearly north-south direction, pass through the Yuanmen Water Plant on the south bank of the river, and then turn southeast. Introduce the existing Nanjing Station Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Station along the planned passage.
The total length of the main line is 17.592 kilometers, and the tunnel is 13.97 kilometers long, of which the cross-river section is 2.3 kilometers long. The estimated total investment of the project is 17.3 billion yuan. In addition, the project also includes the simultaneous implementation of the Ningchu-Bang intercity railway, the running line of the Ninghuai intercity railway, and related connection lines.
