The rainwater and sewage confluence pipe network reconstruction and urban waterlogging treatment project in the central urban area of Jinan is the largest livelihood guarantee project in Jinan that will be started in 2023, and also the largest domestic investment in rainwater and sewage pipe network PPP project. The total investment of the project is 27.3 billion yuan, and the service area is about 864.7 square kilometers, accounting for 84% of the main urban area of Jinan.

It includes 21 mountain rainwater retention and drainage, dredging detection and functional restoration of 3663 km of drainage pipelines, construction and reconstruction of 340 km of drainage pipelines for municipal roads, 1101 km of drainage pipelines for residential buildings, and 126.92 km of total length of river regulation.

After the completion of the project, the incoming and outgoing water quality of the sewage treatment plants in Jinan will be improved, the overflow pollution in the flood season will be reduced, the water quality of the Xiaoqing River will be improved, and the drainage capacity of the urban drainage system will also be improved, which will help alleviate the problem of waterlogging in the rainy season, thus improving the urban water environment and human settlements.
