CRRC Tangshan delivers trains to Porto, Portugal

On February 11, 2023, CRRC Tangshan Company held the delivery ceremony of the first subway train and public open day at the Trindade subway station in the center of Porto, Portugal. Duarte Cordeiro, Minister of the Portuguese Ministry of Environment and Climate Action, said that the new subway trains fully meet passengers' needs for vehicle comfort, safety and convenience. After they are put into use, they will further enhance the travel experience of Portuguese citizens.

Delivery of the first metro train

According to Thiago Braga, president of the Porto Metro Company, the first train is planned to be put into operation in May after relevant tests are completed, and the rest of the trains will be delivered in batches before the end of September.

Chinese Ambassador to Portugal Zhao Bentang said that CRRC Tangshan’s supply of new subway trains for Porto is a model of high-level practical cooperation between China and Portugal, and it provides a new sample for further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the future.

Tan Mu, general manager of CRRC Tangshan Company, introduced that the new subway train was jointly designed by CRRC Tangshan Company and Porto Metro Company. It adopts digital technology and has the characteristics of light weight, low energy consumption and intelligence. It is a new generation of subway train that meets European standards. . At the beginning of 2020, CRRC Tangshan Company signed a cooperation project with Porto Metro Company to produce marshalling subway trains for Porto Metro Company and provide 5-year maintenance services.

According to reports, Porto is the second largest city in Portugal. At present, the Porto Metro has six routes, 81 stations, and a total length of 67 kilometers. The service area includes Porto and its suburbs. Editor/He Yuting
