On February 13, 2023, the second China-Cambodia Cultural Exchange Forum was held in Beijing. This forum, with the theme of "water and friendship and heart connection", was hosted by the China-Cambodia Cultural Exchange Alliance, and jointly hosted by China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Foreign Studies University, the Royal Cambodian Academy of Sciences, the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and other countries. The forum showed the fruitful achievements of China and Cambodia in people-to-people and cultural exchanges, energy cooperation and other aspects in recent years. Experts and scholars attending the forum conducted in-depth exchanges on promoting the cultural integration and exchange between China and Cambodia, and jointly discussed the way to build a community of shared future for China and Cambodia in a new era.

The forum released the "White Paper on the Image of Chinese Enterprises in Cambodia", which is the first white paper on the national image of Chinese enterprises prepared by an overseas official think tank. As an important work result of the China-Cambodia Cultural Exchange Alliance, the white paper was prepared and published by the Royal Cambodian Academy of Sciences, the highest research institution in Cambodia, with the support of China Huaneng and Beijing Foreign Studies University. The white paper comprehensively shows the good image of Chinese enterprises in Cambodia, especially central enterprises, such as honest operation, innovation and openness, responsibility and mutual benefit.

Deng Jianling, general manager of Huaneng Group, said in her speech that on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia and the release of the Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Cambodia on Building a Community of Shared Future between China and Cambodia in a New Era, the convening of this forum has important epochal significance for expanding people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries and carrying forward the cause of China-Cambodia friendship. People's affinity and heart-to-heart communication are the solid foundation and strong impetus for the sustainable development of China-Cambodia friendly cooperation. To strengthen people's heart-to-heart communication, we should build a bridge for cultural exchange and cooperation, tell the story of China-Cambodia friendship to the people of the two countries, and gather cultural consensus. According to the Joint Statement, China and Cambodia will increase cooperation in clean energy such as hydropower and photovoltaic, and explore green, environmentally friendly, stable and reliable energy cooperation schemes. China Huaneng will rely on energy low-carbon technology innovation to continuously deepen China Cambodia energy cooperation and serve the joint construction of the green the Belt and Road; We should focus on telling the story of China well, improve the international communication capacity in all aspects, and inject inexhaustible cultural connotation into the construction of the China-Cambodia community of shared future in the new era with high-level cultural exchanges.

Cambodian Ambassador to China Kai Sisoda pointed out in his speech that Cambodia and China have a long history of traditional friendship, and the two countries are carrying out in-depth cooperation in economy, trade, culture and other aspects to promote the construction of a community of shared future between China and Cambodia. In particular, in the face of the global outbreak of COVID-19, the two peoples united to overcome the difficulties, setting a model of mutual support and cooperation in the fight against the epidemic. China Huaneng, together with well-known universities and think tanks of China and Cambodia, jointly established the China-Cambodia Cultural Exchange Alliance, which is conducive to promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning of civilizations between the two countries. The forum will also further promote the mutual understanding between the two peoples and deepen the friendship between China and Cambodia.

In his speech, the Governor of Stung Treng Province of Cambodia, Song An, said that China Huaneng invested in the construction of the Sanghe Secondary Hydropower Station in the Xishan District of Stung Treng Province of Cambodia, which has made a positive contribution to promoting the development of people's livelihood and ensuring the stable supply of energy in Stung Treng Province. The power station has also provided high-quality jobs, trained a large number of excellent local talents, actively contributed to local schools, and set a good example in fulfilling social responsibilities.

According to the data of Huaneng Group, up to now, the Sang River cascade II hydropower station has generated more than 8.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, providing a strong green driving force for the economic recovery of Cambodia affected by the epidemic.Editor/Ma Xue
