Project Overview
The Qingyuan pumped storage power station project is located in Wudabao Township and Lingtou Township, with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts and a total investment of about 8.4 billion yuan. It is the largest single investment project in the history of Qingyuan County. There are abundant water resources in the project area, and the natural storage conditions are superior, and it can be fully discharged for 9 hours continuously. It is currently the only pumping and storage project in the province with weekly adjustment performance.
The general pumped storage power station is a daily regulating power station, and the continuous full power generation hours are about 6 hours, and a cycle of pumped storage and water release for power generation is completed within a day. The Qingyuan pumped storage power station benefits from the natural geographical advantages, abundant water resources in the project area, excellent natural storage conditions, and can be fully powered for 9 hours continuously, according to the relevant person in charge of the Development and Reform Bureau of Qingyuan County.
It is reported that the Qingyuan pumped storage power station project is composed of the upper reservoir, the lower reservoir, the water delivery system, the underground powerhouse and the switch station and other main structures. The construction period of the first unit for power generation is 60 months, and the total construction period is 72 months. The project is planned to start construction in 2023, and it is expected that all units will be put into operation in 2030.
Once the power station is put into operation, it can generate nearly 200 million yuan in taxes every year, and can undertake the tasks of peak regulation, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation, and emergency backup of the power system.
