After the strong earthquake in Türkiye, some Chinese companies and local Chinese chambers of commerce in Türkiye have taken action to actively provide human and material resources for rescue and resettlement.

The Hunutru Power Station, located in Yumurtalk City, Adana Province, Türkiye, is a key project for the docking of China's the Belt and Road Initiative and Türkiye's Middle Corridor Plan, and is also the largest direct investment project of Chinese enterprises in Türkiye since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Türkiye. It is built, operated and maintained by China Energy Construction Group, with more than 170 Chinese employees and 9 Turkish employees.

On February 8, 2023, China Energy Construction Project Department purchased bedding, rice, cooked food and other living materials and drove to the earthquake-stricken area of Umurtalek to donate materials to the local residents affected by the earthquake.

On February 8, 2023 local time, Zhang Guolei, an employee of the Hunutru power station project, said: At present, the power station is still in operation, providing power guarantee for local disaster relief. When the earthquake occurs, the project site has obvious earthquake feeling. After the earthquake, we promptly organized personnel to evacuate to a safe area, and both Chinese and local employees on the site were not affected. The residence of the project department is safe, and there are no injuries, and the house is not damaged. The power house structure of the power station project has not been affected, and the equipment is intact and still in safe and stable operation. Hunutru Power Station has two 660000 kW ultra supercritical units, which can supply 9 billion kWh of electricity to Türkiye every year, accounting for about 3% of Türkiye's annual power generation.

Zhang Guolei said: Our power station generates electricity stably, providing safe and stable power guarantee for the rescue of the disaster area. We also carefully inspected the equipment on site at the first time after the earthquake to ensure the safe and stable operation of the equipment. At present, our employees have donated some bedding to Iskenderun, Türkiye's worst hit area. Later, we plan to purchase a batch of relief materials to donate and comfort Türkiye's employees' families and the people of Türkiye in the earthquake stricken areas.Editor/Ma Xue
