On the morning of February 20, 2023, two national 150 major water conservancy projects were commenced in Fujian and Henan.

Fujian Jinmen Water Supply Guarantee Project

The commencement of the Fujian Jinmen Water Supply and Water Source Guarantee Project, one of the 150 major national water conservancy projects, was held in Jinjiang City, Quanzhou. The estimated total investment of the project is 3.13 billion yuan and the total construction period is 41 months.

Another livelihood project in the field of water conservancy to improve the well-being of both sides. The project mainly includes two major projects: lake and reservoir connection and water source protection. The water source protection project plans to protect and control the water sources of Dongshan, Xibian, Caohong Pond, Longhu and other reservoirs.

It is reported that Fujian's water supply project to Jinmen was completed and put into operation on August 5, 2018. Up to now, it has supplied more than 25 million tons of water to Jinmen, with a continuous water supply of more than 1600 days. After the completion of the Jinmen Water Supply Source Guarantee Project, a water supply guarantee system of "double water sources, double lines and multiple regulation" will be built for Jinjiang, Jinmen and other places, and the water supply guarantee level of Jinmen Water Supply will be greatly improved. The commencement of the project will further deepen the practice of cross-strait integration and development, and promote cross-strait people's exchanges and exchanges.

Henan Huaihe River Basin depression control project

The mobilization meeting for the commencement of the key plain and depression control project in the Huaihe River Basin in Henan Province was held in the urban-rural integration demonstration area of Zhoukou City. The key plain and depression control project in the Huaihe River Basin in Henan Province is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects in the country and one of the 60 major water conservancy projects that the Ministry of Water Resources will focus on promoting the preliminary work in 2023, with a total investment of 3.962 billion yuan.

The scope of the project includes four large areas of Yanhuai Depression, Hongru River Depression, Shaying River Depression and Huiji River Depression. A total of 117 trunk and branch drainage channels are managed, involving 25 counties and districts of seven provincial-level cities, including Zhoukou, Xinyang, Zhumadian, Luohe, Xuchang, Kaifeng and Shangqiu. The total population is 8014900, the land area is 8915.94 square kilometers, and the cultivated land area is 10355500 mu. The construction task is to give priority to surface waterlogging control, taking into account flood control and water resources utilization.

It is reported that the flood control and drainage capacity of the existing river channel will be improved by dredging the river channel, building and strengthening embankments; Through the construction, reconstruction and maintenance of supporting buildings such as bridges, culvert gates and drainage stations, a complete flood control and drainage system will be formed in the treatment area, so that the waterlogging can be discharged and the flood can be prevented, so as to completely change the situation of serious waterlogging in low-lying areas in the basin and the living difficulties of the people, and create good conditions for the sustainable development of the local economy.Editor/Ma Xue
