The Costa Rican government has announced plans to build a cruise terminal and marina in Limón on its Caribbean coast. The 27-hectare Hernán Garrón Salazar terminal is expected to cost US$854 million. It will include a passenger terminal, a hotel and a handicraft market.
The project aims to develop the country's tourism industry, which accounted for nearly 11 percent of its gross domestic product before the pandemic. The government intends to invite tenders for the scheme by the end of the year and hopes to attract funding from international investors.
Sucy Wing Ching, President of Atlantic Port Authority Japdeva, commented that we are safely moving forward to make this project a reality that will transform our Caribbean. An environmental impact assessment and feasibility study will be completed in August, she added.Editor/XingWentao
