On February 21, 2023, the reconstruction project of the main drainage channel of the Bailang River Basin in Weifang officially started. It is understood that the project starts from Weishui West Street in the south and ends at the box culvert north of Yuwang North Street in the north, with a total length of about 36.6 kilometers. The project will continue until May 31.

Bailang River Basin Drainage Main Channel Reconstruction Project

According to reports, the reconstruction of the main drainage channel of the Bailang River Basin will focus on the comprehensive transformation and upgrading of the box culverts of the Bailang River. The Bailang River box culvert is located on both sides of the river from Weishui West Street to Yuwang North Street. It was completed in 2008. Its main function is to receive rainwater and sewage along the Bailang River Basin and transport it to Chengbei Sewage Plant for treatment. In recent years, as the catchment area of the Bailang River Basin continues to increase and the frequency of short-term heavy rainfall gradually increases, the drainage pressure of box culverts increases and the combined sewage overflows frequently, which urgently needs to be renovated. In order to solve this problem, in 2023, Weifang City launched the reconstruction project of the main drainage channel of the Bailang River Basin.

It is understood that the project is divided into two sections, north and south. Among them, for the section from Weishui West Street to Baotong Street, the main construction content is to detect and locate the sewage interception pipeline about 4.9 kilometers on the west bank of the river and about 1 kilometer on the east bank, add inspection wells, pipeline inspection and repair, etc., to realize the rainwater pollution of Airport Road. From Baotong Street to the end of the box culvert to the north of Yuwang North Street, the main construction content is to detect about 29.5 kilometers of box culverts on both sides of the river, to renovate the estuary of the rainwater drainage, to renovate and repair the main body of the box culvert, etc. The main construction nodes are located around the roads and bridges along Weizhou Huzha and Bailang River, distributed in Airport Road, Champs Elysees Street, Hongwei North Road, Health Street, Minsheng Street, Shengli Street, Dongfeng Street, Fushou Street, Beigong There are 12 roads including Wulong Street, Wolong Street, Yuqing Street, and Lechuan Street, and both sides of the bridge across the Bailang River, involving 36 outlets of various types.

After the renovation is completed, the rainwater along the line can be directly discharged into the river, and the original Bailang River box culvert will be transformed into the main channel for sewage and initial rainwater interception, thereby greatly reducing the drainage pressure of the box culvert and reducing the frequency of overflow.
