In the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert, the scattered lights are bright all night to ensure that the drilling of oil wells in the Tarim Oilfield will continue day and night. As the main gas source of the west-to-east gas transmission, the oil and gas produced here are continuously flowing eastward, lighting up lights thousands of miles away.
At present, the drilling depth of Gole 3C well in Xinjiang has reached 9360 meters, making it the deepest horizontal well in Asia. In the Tarim Basin, the oil and gas drilling is still running ten thousand meters underground.
Tarim Oilfield has the largest ultra-deep gas area in China, and its cumulative natural gas output has exceeded 100 billion cubic meters, equivalent to 46% of the domestic gas volume in 2022. The daily average production of a deep gas well here can meet the daily gas consumption of residents in a city with a population of 10 million. After treatment, the natural gas from ultra-deep layers will take the energy channel and embark on the journey of west-to-east gas transmission.
According to the latest data from the national pipeline network, the total mileage of the West-East Gas Pipeline System currently exceeds 20000 kilometers, equivalent to half a circle around the globe, passing through more than 400 cities, providing a stable gas source for nearly 500 million people, and the cumulative gas transmission volume exceeds 800 billion cubic meters. These new deep natural gas resources and gas transmission pipelines extending in all directions have made domestic energy supply more secure.Editor/Ma Xue
