Beijing Metro Line 22 is an important urban railway line under construction. It connects the core CBD area, the sub-center of the city, Yanjiao Development Zone, Pinggu New City and other key functional areas. It is a silver lining for promoting the efficient operation of urban transportation and serving the better life of the people, as well as a major project for implementing the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy and building a "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei on track".

The Railway Construction Heavy Industry undertook the task of developing the engineering equipment. According to the complex engineering geology and surrounding environment of the construction section, the "Hehe No.1" shield tunneling machine was tailored. The excavating diameter of the equipment is 8.33 meters, the length of the whole machine is about 100 meters, and the power of the whole machine is 3100 kW. The reinforced tool structure and multi-layer three-dimensional tool layout can effectively meet the requirements of the long distance construction. At the same time, advanced technologies such as synchronous double slurry system and secondary grouting system are selected to provide safe and reliable guarantee for shield tunneling machine to pass through important risk sources such as Tongyan Expressway and Beijing-Chengcheng Railway.
