Recently, the rehabilitation project of irrigation channel in Uzbekistan, which was undertaken by China Railway 20th Bureau, was successfully put into operation. The President of the Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic of Uzbekistan, Amanbe Orenbayev, and the Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan, Shavkat, attended the water supply ceremony.

Project overview

With a total length of 35.2 kilometers, the project is a large-scale agricultural irrigation project in the western region of Uzbekistan. After completion, it will effectively improve the water shortage of more than 100000 hectares of farmland in three regions of the Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic of Uzbekistan, and the irrigation efficiency will increase by 60%.

At the ceremony, Amanbe Orenbayev expressed his gratitude to the employees of China Railway Construction for their positive contributions to the construction of agricultural irrigation channels. Tajiev, the 76-year-old first mayor of Yerikala, said excitedly, "After four years of construction, the channel built by Chinese enterprises has finally opened to water. The channel is beautiful and everyone is very happy."

At the beginning of 2019, the constructors of China Railway 20th Bureau entered the site quickly and completed the site retest and the site selection and construction of the project site and mixing station in just over one month. After the first batch of domestically purchased equipment entered the site, the project was officially started, and its fast and efficient work style was unanimously praised and recognized by the owner, the supervision unit and the local government.

During the construction, the lining concrete of the project is constructed by domestically produced lining machines, which is the first time that domestically produced channel concrete lining machines have entered the Uzbekistan market. The Chinese builders contacted the Ukrainian staff at the first time, carried out the technical disclosure of equipment operation in a timely manner to ensure the smooth use of equipment, and also accumulated experience and talent reserves for subsequent construction.

The project builders have carefully managed and strengthened the control of on-site equipment and materials, realizing that the daily consumption of small construction materials is 10% lower than the list amount, creating good economic benefits for the project. They improve various management systems, strictly implement the responsibility system, and strictly control the process to ensure that the progress, quality, safety and environmental management are under control.
