FuturaSun, a European solar module manufacturer headquartered in Italy, has announced that it has acquired a 24,000-square-meter land in the Cittadella industrial area for the construction of a new Italian solar module factory.
FuturaSun said the new factory will use the most innovative technologies to produce high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, with an annual output of 2GW.
With this important step, FuturaSun is committing to a total investment of EUR 25 million over the next few years. According to FuturaSun, the solar module factory is in line with the company's strategic industrial plan and will continue to fulfill its mission of rebuilding the European supply chain in Europe. FuturaSun will play the role of one of the main players.
Alessandro Barin, CEO of FuturaSun, said: "Through this new industry center, we believe that we can boost our hometown, and at the same time, this center can also become a reference point for the REpowerEU program and the European Green Deal, revitalizing the photovoltaic industry in Italy and Europe Supply chains to support the energy transition strategy in continental Europe.
The new headquarters will be designed according to comprehensive environmental and sustainable development standards, including a research and development center for applied scientific research, a large-scale test field for product control and improvement, a photovoltaic academy and a training center, recreating the professionalism of the industry person's expertise.
FuturaSun was founded in Cittadella in 2008. After 15 years of uninterrupted growth, FuturaSun has a gigafactory in China. Two more factories are under construction, and the company continues to develop projects to reposition the supply chain, in addition to launching another effort to revitalize the photovoltaic industry in Cittadella's Veneto district.
2022 is a record year. From 28GW in 2021 to over 41GW in 2022, Europe's solar PV industry has grown by around 47%. Among them, Italy has also added more than 1GW of solar energy projects.
With the generous support of the European Union, the EU's efforts to create a manufacturing ecosystem are also advancing at a rapid pace.
