North Macedonia's Bechtel-Enka has signed an agreement worth 1.3 billion euros for the construction of four sections of European corridors VIII and X. The total construction length is about 110 kilometers. According to the North Macedonian National Highway Public Enterprise, these sections are Tetovo-Gostivar, Gostivar-Bukojchani, Trebenishte-Struga-Kjafasan and Prilep-Bitola, Ejup Rustemi.

The Eighth Corridor is an east-west route linking the Adriatic port of Durres in Albania via North Macedonia to the Black Sea port of Varna in Bulgaria. Corridor X stretches from Salzburg, Austria in the north to Thessaloniki, Greece in the south.

North Macedonia recently issued an invitation for expressions of interest for construction supervision of the road corridor VIII Kichevo-Bukojchani section.

In January 2023, the National Road Agency signed a €9.7 million contract with Macedonian construction company Granit for the construction of the A4 motorway linking the capital, Skopje, to the border with Kosovo. Work includes widening the existing road from the Kosovo border to the village of Blace, and building part of the A4 motorway to connect the village with another local road.

Skopje-based road construction business Granit was a state-owned company until it was privatized in 1996. The company owns several concrete and asphalt plants as well as quarries.Editor/XingWentao
