Recently, Inner Mongolia Energy Group held a centralized commencement ceremony for major energy projects in the spring of 2023, and a branch venue was set up in the Shanghai Temple Economic Development Zone of Etuokeqian Banner to participate in the ceremony. Among the concentrated start of major energy projects, the most eye-catching one is the new energy 4GW project in the Ordos coal mining subsidence area in western Mengxi, which started construction in Etuokeqianqi.
4GW new energy projects
It is understood that the new energy 4GW project in the Ordos coal mining subsidence area in western Mengxi is located in the Shanghai Miao coal mining subsidence area in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. It is one of the second batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases in the country. The target construction of a five-in-one national-level photovoltaic demonstration base of governance, off-board economy, landscape tourism, and rural revitalization; the project consists of 3 sub-projects with a total investment of 21.843 billion yuan. It is planned to build a photovoltaic power station with a rated total capacity of 4 million kilowatts. Utilizing the existing ±800 kV UHV DC transmission channel from Shanghai Temple to Linyi, Shandong, and relying on the peak-shaving resources of 8 million kilowatt coal-fired power units, the joint operation of thermal power and new energy is used to send out. It is planned to complete grid-connected power generation in 2023.
Li Jinzhu, deputy general manager of Inner Mongolia Tongyang New Energy Co., Ltd. and person in charge of sub-project 1, said that the planned area of the project is about 35,300 mu, and a 1 million-kilowatt photovoltaic power generation project will be built in accordance with the complementary plan of agriculture, forestry, and animal husbandry. Planning and construction of economic supporting facilities under the board, 100% of the photovoltaic field area is arranged in the coal mining subsidence area. The project is expected to be connected to the grid for power generation at the end of 2023. After it is put into operation, new energy green power can be directly sent to Shandong. It can save about 560,000 tons of standard coal every year, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.55 million tons, reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 189 tons, reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 284 tons, and reduce smoke and dust emissions by 41 tons.
After completion, the abundant photovoltaic resources of Etuokeqianqi will be further utilized, and 7.65 billion kWh of clean electricity can be delivered to Shandong every year, which is equivalent to saving 2.3 million tons of standard coal and reducing 6.33 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. It is of great significance to promote the complementarity of resources between the east and the west of the country, optimize the industrial layout, and alleviate air pollution; it can promote the low-carbon transformation of the energy structure, boost the power transmission from Mongolia to the east, and effectively alleviate the power shortage in Shandong; and strategic resource bases, building a world-class new energy industry in Ordos City, and improving quality and empowerment in the construction of the four districts of Etuokeqianqi.
