When mentioning Saudi Arabia, many people may first think of scorching deserts and oil wells, but this is not all about Saudi Arabia. Along the coast of the Red Sea in western Saudi Arabia, the climate is pleasant in autumn and winter, and the marine ecological environment is rich and diverse. Under the framework of Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision, a green and low-carbon new city is being built there, and the public infrastructure projects of this future city are entirely undertaken by Chinese companies. Let us follow Isa, a Saudi youth who participated in the construction of the project, into this green new city under construction.
Issa, HR Manager of the Saudi Red Sea Project of Shandong Electric Power Construction No. 3 Company of China Power Construction Group: Sometimes I feel that there are some difficulties that cannot be overcome, but the Chinese colleagues around me don’t see it that way. They can spend a whole day or even two days studying, fully discussing, constantly communicating the latest developments, and finally overcoming difficulties bit by bit. This is something I have never seen anywhere else and is the most important thing I have learned in a Chinese company.
The Red Sea New City project is located in Tabuk Province in western Saudi Arabia, covering an area of 28,000 square kilometers. It is a key project in Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision and is known as a new generation of cities. One of the highlights of the construction of the new city is that the power supply in the future will all come from clean energy, and the five major power stations here will all be constructed by Chinese companies.
Issa, HR Manager of the Saudi Red Sea Project of Shandong Power Construction No. 3 Company of China Power Construction Group: I know that China is a leader in the field of clean energy, has strong capabilities, and leads global development. Moreover, China is also the largest producer of wind turbines and photovoltaic panels. China's rich experience is deployed on a vast land like Saudi Arabia, which makes the dream of Red Sea New City possible to become a reality.
Walking into the Red Sea New City project, there are green marks from China everywhere. In the vast desert along the coast, sewage treatment plants composed of artificial wetlands have realized the recycling of domestic sewage in the new city. There are 22 tourist islands planned for the Red Sea New City project, and the total length of the lines used to build the new city and the power transmission network between the various islands exceeds 10,000 kilometers. The submarine automatic robot from China is launched into the water, and strict environmental protection measures are adopted throughout the process to minimize the impact on marine life.
Isa, personnel manager of the Saudi Red Sea project of Shandong Power Construction No. Workers from many countries have worked hard to achieve today's results. Our current efforts are for the hope of the future. I think this is the true meaning of the community of shared future.Editor/Ma Xue
