On April 3, 2023, the first train of cross-border rail-road intermodal transport (Chongqing-Ruili-Myanmar) in the Western Land-Sea New Corridor departs from the Xiaonanya Railway Logistics Center in Chongqing.
The train is fully loaded with 32 containers, including nearly 600 tons of cargo such as fertilizer raw materials and motorcycle accessories, with a value of over 16 million yuan. After the goods arrive at Yunnan Baoshan North Station, they will be exported to Myanmar through road transport from Dehong Port in Yunnan. This is the first China-Myanmar cross-border new route of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor exported through Dehong Port in China. The operation of the block train saves about 20 days compared with the time of traditional river-sea combined transport, which is of great significance to the joint consultation, joint construction and sharing of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
On April 2, 2023, the Cooperation Conference on Jointly Building the New Western Land-Sea Corridor was held in Chongqing. At the meeting, Jiangjin District and Dehong Prefecture signed the "Strategic Cooperation Agreement on Jointly Building the Western Land-Sea New Corridor", and the three parties signed the "Main Platform Enterprise Co-construction Western Land-Sea New Corridor Strategic Cooperation Agreement.
According to reports, Dehong Prefecture is bordered by Myanmar on three sides. It is the most convenient, safest and most economical land channel for China to enter South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is also the main channel and core area for China-Myanmar open cooperation. As the city with the largest trade volume and the widest range of cooperation with Myanmar in Yunnan Province, Dehong's trade with Myanmar has accounted for a quarter of China-Myanmar trade for many years, and radiates most of Southeast Asia and South Asia through Myanmar.Editor/Ma Xue
