Russia organizes elementary and middle school students to learn Chinese

On April 4, 2023, the Chinese Bridge Chinese Competition for Primary and Secondary School Students was officially held in Vladivostok. According to reports, this competition is jointly organized by the Chinese Consulate General in Vladivostok and the Confucius Institute at Far Eastern Federal University.

Pu Yangfan, Consul General of China in Vladivostok, delivered a speech before the game. She encouraged Russian students to study Chinese hard, to engage in the great cause of China-Russia friendly cooperation in the future, and to become messengers of civilization exchanges.

Competitors talent show

This competition is divided into primary school student group and middle school student group. 14 contestants from the Russian Far East gave Chinese keynote speeches and talent shows respectively. The contestants expressed their love for Chinese and yearning for oriental culture through creative ways such as poetry recitation, dance, singing, and tea ceremony performances. After fierce competition, 11-year-old Sofia Narusheva won the first place in the elementary school group, and 17-year-old Daniel Pishny won the first place in the middle school group.

Liu Congying, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Far Eastern Federal University, said in an interview with reporters that there are more and more people learning Chinese in the Far East and even in Russia, and more and more Russians are interested in Chinese culture. Sofia Narusheva, who won first place in the elementary school group, told reporters that her parents supported her in learning Chinese. She herself likes Chinese very much and wants to go to China to go to university when she grows up.

The 3rd All-Russian Chinese Bridge Chinese Competition for Primary School Students will be held online in late May, and the 11th All-Russian Chinese Bridge Chinese Competition for Secondary School Students will be held offline in Irkutsk in mid-May. Some winners of the Chinese Bridge Chinese Bridge Competition for Elementary and Middle School Students in the Vladivostok Consular District will be eligible to participate in the upcoming All-Russian Chinese Bridge Competition.
