Recently, the Tanzania Central Railway SGR-1 Power Transmission and Transformation Line Expansion Project undertaken by PowerChina has officially obtained the certificate of completion issued by the owner Tanzania Power Company, marking the official completion of the project and handing over to the owner.

Tanzania Central Railway SGR-1 power transmission and transformation line expansion project is located in the urban area of Morogoro, Tanzania. It is the second power supply source for the supporting power supply line of SGR standard gauge railway in Tanzania. After completion, it will provide SGR standard gauge railway traction station No. 1 to 4 electricity supply. The main construction contents are: design, supply and installation of overhead lines and towers, grounding works and construction of line protection facilities, high-voltage communication lines, high-voltage cable laying and auxiliary expansion substations and other projects. The contract period is 8 months.

In order to complete the project on schedule with quality and quantity, the project department overcame unfavorable factors such as insufficient human resources and difficulties in raw materials entering the site during the COVID-19 epidemic, systematized and simplified the entire process, strictly controlled the construction quality and safety, and completed the project within the contractual period. Completed the project construction. The project quality and construction period have been unanimously recognized by the owner.

The successful completion and handover of the project marks the completion of the grid connection of the four traction substations of the Central Railway and the Tanzania power grid, which provides an important prerequisite for the subsequent commissioning of the first electrified railway in Tanzania. This project is the first power transmission and transformation project contracted by PowerChina in Tanzania.
