Recently, the 150,000-ton MSC VANDYA slowly departed from the Songyu Container Terminal, starting the maiden voyage of the newly opened Belt and Road Middle East direct liner (route code FALCON) in Xiamen Port. The new route is exclusively operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) once a week, and the voyage is about 5 days shorter than the same type of transit route, helping foreign trade companies reduce costs and increase efficiency.
According to the plan, MSC will invest in nine 150,000-ton container ships to serve the new route. Under normal circumstances, each voyage will take a total of 39 days. The route passes through Shekou Port, Singapore Port, and connects Jebel Ali Port, Abu Dhabi Port and other important ports in the Middle East. It mainly exports stone materials, clothing, sanitary ware and other goods. sky.
MSC expressed that it looks forward to continuing to deepen the multi-business cooperation with Xiamen Port. It is worth mentioning that on the afternoon of the 8th, the MSC Irina, the world's largest container ship affiliated to MSC, made its maiden voyage to Xiamen Port. The ship was independently developed by China.
With the help of the Belt and Road Initiative, the economic and trade relations between Xiamen and the Middle East continue to develop. The relevant person in charge of the Xiamen Port Administration said that the new opening of the Middle East direct ferry route in Xiamen Port is at the right time, which further highlights the important role played by Xiamen in implementing the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. So far, Xiamen Port has four routes to the Middle East.
Songyu Container Terminal, which efficiently serves MSC Vandia’s berthing and loading operations, is the core deep-water operation area of Xiamen Port, with world-leading operational efficiency and comprehensive service capabilities. According to Xiamen Port Holdings Group, the terminal will receive 50 container ships of 150,000 tons or more in succession in 2023.Editor/Ma Xue
