On April 6, 2023, a reporter from Jiandao.com learned from the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration that the Yinzhou section of the Xiangshan Port Cross-sea Bridge of the Ningbo-Xiangshan suburban railway project has begun offshore construction, marking the start of the entire line of the project.The Ningbo-Xiangshan Suburban Railway Project connects Ningbo City and Xiangshan County. The entire line is about 61.45 kilometers long, of which the Xiangshan Port Cross-sea Bridge is 8.26 kilometers long.

The bridge is divided into two sections, the Xiangshan section and the Yinzhou section. Construction of the Xiangshan section has started on February 8, 2023; after the construction of the Yinzhou section starts, the construction fleet will expand accordingly, and the bridge construction will enter a full-speed construction mode.

A total of 3 construction units participated in the construction of the Xiangshan Port Cross-sea Bridge. In order to ensure construction safety and construction progress at the same time, the maritime department innovated and launched a segmented permit processing model, shortening the time limit for approval, and gaining valuable time for the project process.The distance between the newly built bridge and the existing bridge is only 50 meters, and there are many types of construction ship machinery and equipment. When the ship is operating, it is easily affected by the channels on both sides and the existing bridge. The space for anchoring is limited, and the construction organization is difficult.

Zhang Zhandong, deputy director of the Ninghai Maritime Affairs Department, said that in order to ensure smooth construction, the maritime department has established a multi-party coordination and liaison mechanism to further improve the construction navigation safety guarantee plan and do a good job in risk prevention and control.

It is reported that the Xiangshan Port Cross-sea Bridge is the first suburban railway cross-sea bridge in China, the largest span bridge on parallel existing lines in China and the largest span combined steel box girder railway cable-stayed bridge in China.

Among them, a number of technologies such as pure railway cable-stayed will achieve new breakthroughs in the field of bridge construction in China and even in the world. After the completion of the bridge, it will greatly improve the efficiency of medium and long-distance travel from Ningbo to Xiangshan.

It is reported that the Ningbo-Xiangshan suburban railway is the southern skeleton line of the Ningbo suburban railway network, connecting the main city of Ningbo and Xiangshan, supporting the expansion of urban space to the south, covering Yunlong, Hengxi, Tangxi, Xianxiang and Xiangshan in Yinzhou District County Xianxiang, Daxu, the main city, and finally Damuwan Station. The Ningxiang Line starts from Xiaoyangjiang Station in Yinzhou District in the north and ends at Damuwan Station in Xiangshan County in the south.

The line will undertake the medium and long-distance travel from the main urban area of Ningbo to Xiangshan, as well as the internal commuting travel between the main urban area of Ningbo and Xiangshan towns, and at the same time take into account the distribution function of Ningbo West Comprehensive Transportation Hub, providing development opportunities for the rise of the southern area of Ningbo.
