Suez and its Chinese partners Wanhua Chemical Group and China Railway Shanghai Engineering Bureau Group formally signed a cooperation agreement on seawater desalination projects for industrial applications. Suez will design and build a 100MLD seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in Penglai District, Yantai City, Shandong Province. The plant meets the highest industrial standards and is designed to use seawater as a supplementary water source for the chemical industrial complex. The project builds on the partners' successful track record and leverages the strong engineering construction capabilities of CRSH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Railway Corporation. While saving fresh water resources, the project will enhance the resilience of the local water ecosystem and support the ecological transformation of Wanhua and its industrial partners.

Suez has become a major global player in creating water cycle solutions with the development of the Melbourne, Australia desalination plant, one of the largest reverse osmosis desalination plants in the world. Also in Australia, Suez supports the Perth desalination plant, which supplies more than 45 billion liters of drinking water to more than 2 million people annually.

The project broadens the scope of Suez's cooperation with Wanhua and China Resources, and further promotes the ambition of the three partners to build a green industrial ecosystem for more sustainable development. This also proves that the two parties are committed to jointly promoting China's ecological transformation, which is in line with the common vision of France and China. From 2017 to 2022, SUEZ has cooperated with Wanhua Group, a global leader in the chemical industry, to carry out four major water and wastewater treatment projects.

I am very happy to be able to cooperate with Wanhua and China Railway Holdings on our Shandong project and turn it into a new standard of French-Chinese environmental protection cooperation. Suez has a long history in desalination, the future solution for ensuring a stable water supply in areas affected by water stress. Sabrina Soussan, Chairman and CEO, SUEZ

Liao Zengtai, chairman of Wanhua Chemical Group, said that I am very encouraged by the great success of our cooperation with Suez so far. SUEZ is a great company whose expertise and exceptional service support our impressive results in many areas. I hope this desalination project becomes another benchmark and headline project.

Wang Jianying, chairman of China Railway Shanghai Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., said that today we are proud to see the deepening of the tripartite cooperation. Like Wanhua, we look forward to continuing to establish a sincere, close, extensive and long-term cooperative partnership with Suez to achieve more outstanding achievements in infrastructure, environmental protection and other fields. We believe that our cooperation will bring greater benefits to the society!Editor/XingWentao
