The styrene-butadiene copolymer project of Hainan Baling Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation, was put into operation in Hainan, with an annual production capacity of 170,000 tons.

Sinopec currently has the world's largest SBC plant with the largest production capacity. Baling New Materials and Sinopec Hainan Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd. invested 1.924 billion yuan in the Baling project in Hainan. The SBC plant of the project has an annual output of 170,000 tons of SBS and SEBS products, including 120,000 tons of SBS products and 50,000 tons of SEBS products. The plant has 13 devices including oil refining, polymerization, coalescence, recovery, additive preparation, post-processing, as well as supporting production and public facilities.

TPE is a kind of copolymer that can be plasticized at high temperature and has rubber elasticity at room temperature, and SBC is a kind of TPE. Its products include SBS, SEBS, SIS, SEPS, etc., which are widely used in shoemaking and asphalt modification. , Resin modification, adhesives, food packaging, medical equipment, sports equipment, automobiles, consumer electronics and other fields.

The project adopts a complete set of SBS and SEBS solutions independently developed by Sinopec, including clean manufacturing methods, which can produce SBCs of different grades and performances to meet customer product customization needs. At the same time, use the styrene and butadiene of Hainan Refining & Chemical, the new technology of Baling New Materials and the Hainan Free Trade Port to minimize raw material and transportation costs, expand the industrial chain, and optimize revenue. The initiative will export SBC products to developing European, Southeast and South Asian markets.

Sinopec has been in China's leading synthetic rubber R&D field for more than 5 years. In the 1970s, Yanshan Petrochemical Research Institute developed butyl lithium preparation and SBS polymerization technology. Sinopec is one of only three companies in the world and the only company in China that can industrially produce new SEPS products using environmentally friendly technologies.
