On April 13, 2023, the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Transportation released the announcement of candidates for the Yuxi Yimen-Kunming Jinning Expressway franchise project, which was won by the China Railway Development and Investment Group consortium.

Project Overview

Yijin Expressway is located in the central part of Yunnan Province, and the route is generally arranged to the east and slightly north. The starting point of the line is located near the Meizeng Reservoir on the south side of Yimen County, Yuxi City. Yimen Junction is set up to connect Wuding to Yimen Expressway, and it ends at the west side of Hushan Park near Xianhe Village, an ancient town in Jinning District, Kunming City. The Jinning hub is connected to the G5601 Kunming Ring Expressway.

Main control points: the starting point of Wuyi Expressway, the southeast of Yimen County, Pahe, Yangxingzhuang, Bajie Town, Erjie Town, Jinning Ancient City, Huanhu South Road, Kunyang Railway Branch Line, and the ending point of Kunming Ring Expressway, etc. According to the research and approval text report, the mileage of the main line of Yijin Expressway is 44.652 kilometers, of which: the Kunming section is 36.321 kilometers, and the Yuxi section is 8.331 kilometers. The whole line adopts the standard construction of two-way six-lane expressway, with a roadbed width of 33.5 meters, a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour, and a total length of 29.469 kilometers of bridges and tunnels, accounting for 65.997% of the total length of the route. There are 5 interchanges along the entire line, including 2 hub interchanges, 2 general interchanges, and 1 transformation interchange.

The project sets up a 1.277-kilometer Yimen connecting line, which is planned to be constructed according to the standard of a four-lane first-class road, with a roadbed width of 25.5 meters and a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The estimated total investment of this project's feasibility study approval is 12.45 billion yuan, the average construction cost per kilometer of the whole line is 270 million yuan, and the bridge-tunnel ratio is 65.997%. Among them: the estimated total investment of the Kunming section is 9.1 billion yuan, and the bridge-tunnel ratio is 63.11%; the estimated total investment of the Yuxi section 3.35 billion yuan, the ratio of bridges and tunnels is 78.91%, of which the estimated total investment of the Yimen hub interconnection line is 1.37 billion yuan.
